The profile of Kunal Kushwaha embodies the definition of a passionate professional. In addition to serving as Field CTO at a leading cloud company, he has remained deeply engaged with the tech community — developing a YouTube channel with over 700K subscribers and creating WeMakeDevs, a community of 150K technology enthusiasts.

While in the UK, Kunal realized the Skilled Worker visa had its limitations — especially when it came to investing or starting a venture. From that point on, he set his sights on the UK Global Talent Visa — an option that offers significantly more freedom to its holders. He received his endorsement faster than he ever imagined, and now he’s sharing the details of this unique journey with us.

How did you find out that you were granted the visa? What were you doing at that moment, and what were your impressions?

The first stage was the Tech Nation endorsement. We filled out the form, and I got the notification that I was endorsed as Exceptional Talent the next day — it only took one day. I was pretty confident because the team I was working with at Immigram told me my case was really strong and that I’d get it. I trusted them since they’re experts and have helped many candidates. My first reaction was, “Okay, cool.” The second stage, the actual visa application, took about a month or maybe a bit more. When I finally got it, I just thought, “Okay, now I have it.”

Could you please share your career journey? Where are you working now, and what path have you taken to get here?

It all started with contributing to open source when I was in India. Working on Kubernetes projects really strengthened my case. Right now, I'm working as the Field CTO at Civo, a cloud provider based in the UK, and we're active in many regions around the world. I also run a YouTube channel, teach online, and take part in several tech communities. I attend a lot of events, speak at conferences, mentor people, and run workshops. I also have my own community called WeMakeDevs, where we organize global events.

Why did you choose the UK as a country to live in?

There are two aspects to it. One is personal — I really like London as a city. It’s one of the best cities in the world. There’s so much to do, especially when you’re young and looking at the European landscape. London has a very active scene.

The second is more professional. Most of our company’s employees are based here, and I saw a lot of potential for growth and business opportunities in the UK. I even set up my own company the day after I got my visa.

Overall, I just love London. It’s a personal preference — I love the city and everything it offers.

What led you to the decision to apply for the Global Talent Visa in the UK?

My main reason was that I wasn’t eligible to start my own company or run a business on a Skilled Worker visa. So I wanted the Global Talent Visa — that was it. That’s the main reason.

How did you learn about Immigram, and why did you choose them to assist with your visa application?

They reached out to me on LinkedIn. I was already looking into the Global Talent Visa, so it was good timing. I connected with the founders, and they shared their story. That’s how we started our work.

What was the process like for preparing your case? Was there anything unexpected in the visa requirements or any challenges you faced, and how did Immigram help you overcome them?

I think the process was really simple. The Immigram team handled everything — I just provided them with the necessary information. I was responsible for getting the referral letters. So, there weren’t any real challenges; it was very straightforward.

The only challenge, if any, was that it took quite a bit of time because there was so much data and so many things I had done. We wanted to compile all of that properly, but overall, the process was smooth and straightforward.

Having obtained the visa with Immigram's assistance, could you share what advantages you see in working with them compared to applying on your own?

I couldn’t have done it on my own — I mean, it would have taken much, much longer. The professionalism, support with legal questions, and things like that really helped. They built my case, they know the process, and they made sure everything complied with the requirements. It’s a complicated, long process, and professional help is always advisable. This is legal work, so you really can’t afford to mess up when it comes to dealing with the Home Office and all that.

Can you please share your future plans in the UK?

My main focus is my role as Field CTO at Civo, where I lead business strategy and help shape the future of cloud computing. Alongside that, I stay active in the tech community through WeMakeDevs and my YouTube channel, where I continue to teach, mentor, and give back. I’ve also started investing in early-stage startups and contributing to the UK tech ecosystem.

What are your overall impressions of working with Immigram?

Absolutely amazing — I highly recommend them. I've already referred to a lot of people and will keep doing so. There were no red flags or issues. Nothing felt too good to be true — it really was perfect. I especially appreciated how responsive the team was. I was in direct contact with them one-on-one. Overall, my experience was incredible. If I could change one thing, I wouldn’t — everything was perfect.
