Obtaining the Global Talent visa gave me the freedom to work in the UK without any restrictions on employers, which was a game-changer for my career. It allowed me to fully pursue my entrepreneurial ambitions, start my own company, and grow my IT product, sprouty.app, which now serves over 1.5 million users and generates more than $2M in annual recurring revenue.
I’ve been working in IT for 16 years, starting as a backend developer before moving into mobile development. Later I expanded into DevOps and architecture, which led me to work in the Netherlands on a major telecom project at Liberty Global. Over the past six years, I’ve served as CTO at several companies — first at Koshelek (acquired by the Tinkoff group in 2021) and later at Skyeng. Beyond my executive roles, I was program director of the Mobius conference, spoke at industry events, hosted a podcast for team leads, and from 2017 to 2019 ran the most-read English blog on solution architecture on Medium, with over 1M views.
The main advantages were the possibility of obtaining a 5-year visa with the option to extend; the freedom to work without employer restrictions, which allowed me to build my own company in the UK; the ability to bring my family and eventually qualify for permanent residency; and, of course, the chance to live in London, where I had studied for my master’s at London City University from 2013 to 2015.
I first heard about the Global Talent visa and Immigram from a good friend who was applying at the time. After looking into the process, I realized that preparing a strong case involves a lot of detailed requirements, so I chose to work with Immigram. Several friends had successfully received their visas with their support, while some acquaintances who applied on their own weren’t as fortunate. For me, the choice was clear.
The entire process, from start to receiving the visa, took about a year—mainly due to my own procrastination, as I had to prepare over 100 pages of text detailing my experience. Had I been more focused, it could have been completed in just a couple of months. There weren’t any major difficulties, just a lot of monotonous work. Fortunately, I already had publications, conference talks, and recommendation letters from well-known industry figures.
I am now fully focused on my company, sprouty.app — an app for parents of children aged 0–3. Together with my co-founder, we aim to make it the leading product in this niche, following the path of flo.health, with the goal of reaching a billion-dollar valuation and becoming a unicorn. We closed our first seed round this summer and are preparing for a Series A round next spring.
If you don’t yet have presentations, articles, or patents, start working on them in advance so the case preparation doesn’t drag out. Secure reviewers with international recognition in IT, and for everything else, trust the professionals at Immigram — they’ll take care of the bureaucracy and all the details of your application.
